Terms of Use
Last updated: October 18, 2026
These Terms govern your use of the DocketHelp browser extension and the dockethelp.net website (together, "DocketHelp"), provided by SYNAPSE SYSTEMS LLC ("we", "us"). By installing the extension, starting a trial or subscribing, you agree to these Terms.
1. What DocketHelp does
DocketHelp helps users of the Vermont Judiciary Public Portal (portal.vtcourts.gov) download the documents of a court case they have opened into a folder on their own computer. It works only inside your own browser session and only with documents you are already allowed to open.
2. Your portal account and your responsibility
DocketHelp does not create, store or manage portal credentials and does not act on your behalf outside your browser. You are solely responsible for complying with the portal's terms of use, the court's rules of access and any usage limits set by the court.
3. Your DocketHelp account
Your subscription is tied to your email address. You sign in with a link sent to that address. A subscription may be used on up to two computers at a time; signing in on a third computer signs out the oldest one. Keep access to your email account secure — anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your subscription.
4. Subscription, trial and billing
- The subscription costs $19.99 per month per state, plus applicable sales tax, and renews automatically every month until cancelled.
- New customers get one 3-day free trial per state. A valid payment card is required to start the trial; the first charge happens when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.
- Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the reseller and merchant of record for your purchase and calculates and collects sales tax. Your receipt shows the seller information required by law.
- You can cancel at any time on the My subscription page or in the extension. Cancellation stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. Except where required by law, payments are not refunded for partial periods.
- One email address can hold only one subscription per state. If a duplicate subscription is ever created by mistake, we cancel it and refund any charge for it.
- We may change the price with at least 30 days' notice by email. The new price applies from your next renewal after the notice period.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to resell or share your subscription, not to use DocketHelp to overload or disrupt the portal, and not to copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute the extension except as allowed by law.
6. Hold harmless
You use DocketHelp at your own risk and discretion. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SYNAPSE SYSTEMS LLC from any claims, damages, losses, account suspensions or other consequences arising out of your use of DocketHelp, including any violation of the portal's or the court's rules.
7. No official affiliation
DocketHelp is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by the Vermont Judiciary, the Vermont Judiciary Public Portal or Tyler Technologies. Court documents remain subject to all access rules and restrictions that apply to any portal user. DocketHelp does not and cannot bypass access restrictions.
8. Disclaimer of warranty
DOCKETHELP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Court portals change without notice, and we do not guarantee that every document can be downloaded at all times.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOST WORK, LOST DATA OR MISSED DEADLINES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR DOCKETHELP IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced by email or on this page at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use DocketHelp after that means you accept the updated Terms.
